How I make flutes

My flute-making process begins with a journey into the forest, where I walk in search of best samples of nice and beautifully shaped branches, to give them a new life as music instruments.

Once the branches have been collected, they need to get fully dried, and it takes time. Then begins the fascinating process of crafting each flute by hand. I do most of the work with hand tools, first cutting a branch in two halves, then shaping and carving the wood, chiseling the bore, and gluing back together to get to the next and most important step - the crafting of the sound mechanism and tuning. After everything is done, it's time to finish a flute. I use natural wood finishes like linseed oil and beeswax, giving a few coats of shellac on top, allowing the natural beauty and character of each piece to shine through. The result is a unique instrument that is imbued with the soul of the crafter and the beauty of Nature.

Each of the flutes has its own unique voice and character, and I believe that they have a story to tell. When you play each of them, you will feel the energy of love and meditation that went into their creation.

Whether you are a musician, a collector, or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of handmade crafts, I invite you to explore the flutes presented in my shop and experience the magic of the ethnic woodcraft.
